I never planned a career in technology. Then my first job put me inside the systems of banks, and I was in awe: how institutions exchange information, how money actually moves through markets. I decided this was worth a lifetime of learning. Twenty years on, I still think of myself as a student of architecture.
I never planned to leave Pune either. But I had just bought an apartment, and when I asked my manager for a raise he told me to bring an offer letter and he would match it. The offer I found was in Singapore. I told myself I would go home in two years. Two years turned into fourteen, and Singapore has been nothing but kind and welcoming to me. It's where I now design and deliver technology platforms for enterprises and the public sector.
Along the way, an MBA from the National University of Singapore taught me to connect technical decisions to business outcomes. I'm still practising that too.
Outside of work I walk, read a lot, and watch science fiction. I write here because notes are how I learn: if I can simplify a concept enough to write it down, I finally understand it. These are those notes, put online in case they help someone else.
